Electrical CAD Technologist


Exceed Electrical Engineering is seeking a CAD Design Technologist with experience in electrical design and control systems.

The ideal candidate would assist in providing electrical lighting designs, power distributions, fire alarm design and control system design. 

At Exceed we provide detailed electrical layouts for commercial and multi-family residential buildings, municipal water and wastewater systems, industrial control systems, and electrical distribution.

This position will play a key role in supporting Exceed’s Sr. Design Technologist. You will be responsible for detailed design primarily using the latest versions of AutoCAD, REVIT, and AGI32 (experience with EPLAN will be considered an asset), as well as providing project management and meeting with clients when required.

Location: Kamloops, BC

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate to experience.


  • Collaborate with the Exceed team at initial conceptual design phase of engineering projects throughout closeout of the project with a focus on laying out the detailed design work using AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Prepare street lighting and interior building layouts using AGI32 light modelling software.

  • Understand control schematics, identify errors, mark-up schematics with corrections.

  • Ability to assist with load calculations and electrical code review.

  • Prepare electrical distribution layouts, lighting layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules, cable tray layouts, control schematics, control panel layouts, and other related drawings.

  • Maintain general knowledge of the latest Canadian Electrical Code & BC Building Code.

  • Attend client meetings and serve as project manager on select projects.

  • Collaborate with Exceed team where required.


  • ARET Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit and AG132.

  • 2-4 years experience in an environment working with CAD in an engineering design capacity.

  • Basic understanding of the BC Building Code and Canadian Electric Code.

  • Ability to take the initiative, think ahead and be detail oriented.

  • A desire and willingness to learn and work as an integral team member.

  • Provide innovative solutions to design challenges.

  • Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license.

  • Must possess a safe and reliable vehicle with ability to travel through typical B.C. winter conditions.
