Electrical Design Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Exceed Electrical Engineering is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (Intermediate) with a minimum of five years experience in electrical distribution systems design. Experience with water and wastewater processes, ETAP, AutoCAD, and electrical design of commercial and multi-family buildings will be considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting Exceed’s projects. You are the first line of support for various clients throughout BC. You will be responsible for system designs, assisting other engineers and technologists, as well as managing clients and projects. This role will require you to perform field reviews at construction sites across B.C. Understanding of different processes such as water/wastewater treatment, materials handling, pumping, and other processes will be considered an asset, along with experience using AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, EPLAN, or similar design platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary)

Collaborate with the Exceed team at initial conceptual design phase of engineering projects throughout closeout of the project

Design of primary services for municipal and commercial clients, power distributions and generation for industrial clients, including low voltage and medium voltage distribution, water treatment plants, pump stations, fuse coordination studies and grounding studies

Develop and revise technical drawings including single-line and three-line diagrams that include but are not limited to equipment layouts, wiring diagrams and schematics, cable schedules and layouts, control panels, fire safety, and lighting layouts using AutoCAD/Revit

Conduct load calculations and create electrical models using ETA

Read engineering drawings, P&ID’s, identify errors, mark-up drawings with corrections, and reverse engineer electrical systems

Choose metering and protection relays, current transformers and potential transformers for projects

Create network wiring diagrams incorporating Modbus TCP/IP and Ethernet

Read engineering drawings, P&ID’s, identify errors, mark-up drawings with corrections, and reverse engineer electrical systems

Read and understand B.C. Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, CSA and other related standards

Provide project management from conception to completion, create proposals and cost estimates, assisting other engineers and designers ensuring Exceed standards are always followed. Travel province-wide to remote sites to perform field reviews, meet with clients, troubleshoot issues, or commission projects

Attend client meetings, record and understand client requirements

Manage timelines and budgets
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an electrical consulting or field services environment

Registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. and have P.Eng. status

Practical experience creating detailed drawings for design using AutoCAD and or Revit for projects

Knowledge of BC Hydro and Fortis BC design standards

Strong computer skills and proficient with Office365 products including Word, Excel, and Teams, AutoCAD, AGI32, Revit and ETAP

Able to rapidly establish a good working relationship with clients

This position has been deemed as Safety Sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test and background clearance check

Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license
