Electrical Engineer-in-Training

JOB DESCRIPTION

Exceed Electrical Engineering is seeking an Electrical EIT with up to 4 years experience in electrical distribution systems and/or control systems. 

This position will be based out of our office in the downtown heart of Kamloops, BC, close to many restaurants and coffee shops.  We offer a fun working environment with flexibility for personal and family time. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting Exceed’s projects. You are the first line of support for various clients throughout BC. You will be responsible for system designs, assisting other engineers and technologists, as well as managing clients and projects. This role will require you to perform field reviews at construction sites across B.C. Understanding of different processes such as water/wastewater treatment, materials handling, pumping, and other processes will be considered an asset, along with experience using AutoCAD, ETAP, EPLAN, or similar design platforms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (may vary)

  • Collaborate with the Exceed team at initial conceptual design phase of engineering projects throughout closeout of the project

  • Develop and revise technical specifications

  • Read engineering drawings, P&ID’s, identify errors, mark-up drawings with corrections, and reverse engineer electrical systems

  • Program and commission Siemens, Schneider, Allan Bradley PLC’s

  • Program and commission HMI’s and SCADA platforms including Wonderware, VTSCADA, and others

  • Troubleshoot control systems at client sites throughout B.C.

  • Read and understand Canadian Electrical code, CSA and other related standards

  • Support engineers and designers with technical issues

  • Travel inter-provincially to remote sites to perform field reviews, meet with clients, troubleshoot issues, or commission projects

  • Attend client meetings, record and understand client requirements

  • Work with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design platforms to provide engineered designs

  • Manage timelines and budgets

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineers: Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with a focus on Electrical Engineering

  • Up to 4 years of experience working in an electrical  consulting or field services environment

  • Registration with, or eligible to be registered with Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. as an Engineer-in-Training

  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently in English

  • Strong computer skills

  • Knowledge of BC Hydro and Fortis BC design standards

  • Proficient in Office365 products including Word, Excel, and Teams

  • Able to rapidly establish a good working relationship with clients

  • Entrepreneurial work ethic

  • This position has been deemed as Safety Sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test and background clearance check

  • Must possess a valid passport and driver’s license

  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
